Scion Revealing New Limited Edition xB Release Series at 2014 NY Show

Scion is not doing too well right now, with sales hardly stabilizing at some level only because of the FR-S and tC coupes. And if you ignore the tC’s refreshment for 2014, all Scion did was to hope it will make it big through releasing tons of limited run models... almost like Bugatti does with the Veyron.

And Scion will strike again this year by revealing the limited edition xB Release Series at the 2014 New York International Auto Show on Wednesday, April 16th.

What’s with the Release Series? Well, check out what Scion vice president Doug Murtha says about it:

“The xB Release Series 10.0 gets a fun, technology influence with wireless charging, a backup camera and an exclusive, modern appearance to inspire drivers. A culture of customization and passion already surrounds the xB, and Scion is delivering this unique series to further encourage fans to make these distinctive vehicles their own.”

In small words, the Scion xB can be had with some eye-candy and more tech inside.

Outside, the car will feature a new Electric Quartz paint (which is a pearl white paint with subtle green highlights... Neat!), special badging and Tungsten Gray colored wheel caps.

More magic happens inside, with the boxy car receiving custom colored seats with accent stitching and door inserts (green things everywhere), special badged carpets, backup camera, conductive wireless charging for smartphones, Piano Black interior accents, illuminated Scion door sills as well as illuminated center console cup holders.

Scion says only 1,500 units will be available, each coming at a suggested retail price of $20,420. They will also hit dealerships this summer and will only be available with automatic transmissions.
