Yep, Scion continues with putting out more and more special editions for its five cars and after we saw the xB Release Series last week, here’s the FR-S version. Isn’t it a looker?
Scion just announced to showcase the FR-S Release Series 1.0 at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, a modern take on the sport coupe’s racing roots which draws its inspiration and expertise from Toyota Racing Development (TRD).
As with its square bro, the FR-S Release Series will be available in only 1,500 units and a set of new features; the most obvious one being the bright Yuzu exterior finish which totally makes it stand out.
The exterior will also adopt a special aero kit with rear spoiler and side fender garnish, TRD quad exhaust tips and HID headlamps with LED daytime running lights. A set of redesigned rims would have been brilliant, but that will be up to you to get from aftermarket vendors.
Inside, you’ll get a TRD steering wheel, TRD shift knob, black seats with T-pattern, dual automatic AC, TRD logo cargo mat, Smart Key system with pus h start button and a special badge reading a number between 1 and 1,500, depending which unit you’ll buy.
The performance side is improved only by a set of TRD lowering springs. The FR-S Release Series 1.0 will be available with both manual and automatic transmission, coming with a suggested price of under $30,000 for the manual, around $5,000 more than the standard version without the cool features.
