Thrills behind the wheel doesn’t need to rip off your wallet and that’s why the $24,700 Scion FR-S got named “Best Sports Car for the Money” for the second time in a row by U.S. News & World Report publication.

“The 2014 FR-S ‘Best Sports Car for the Money’ award from U.S. News and World Report underscores what our drivers have already discovered – thrilling performance doesn’t have to break the budget,” said Scion Vice President Doug Murtha. “The FR-S continues to bring together affordability, experience and safety in a way that excites drivers and the industry alike.”

In order to help consumers find a good value vehicle, the publication keeps track of the industry praise, safety and reliability scores.

Building up on the success of the original Toyota AE 86, the FR-S (GT 86) offers the classic sportscar ingredients for a very low price in the segment - good looks, engine up front, manual gearbox in the middle and transmission at the back, making for almost a 50-50 weight distribution.

Moreover, the car has been awarded with an overall five-star safety rating by NHTSA. The combined fuel consumption is set at 25 mpg for the manual and 25 for the automatic.
