Scion Concept Teased Ahead of New York Debut

With less than a week before this year’s New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) opens its doors, Toyota decided to offer a glimpse of the Scion Concept vehicle that is set to make its world debut at the event. As NYIAS is the perfect venue for an US-exclusive automaker to present its latest goodies to local consumers, the Scion Concept is likely to attract a great deal of interest from the visitors.

The unveiling will take place on April 20, 2011, and those of you who can’t make it to the event can watch the live news conference at the following link. A video of the new concept set to wear the Scion badge can be found there, with the vehicle showed sitting in the dark, in a few scenes set to arouse interest.

Though the image is blurry and no technical specs have been revealed so far, Americans could be the ones getting a preview the production version of the FT 86 II concept revealed in Geneva last month, but under the Scion badge. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Toyota’s luxury brand, Lexus, is also preparing a new concept for the same event. The LF-Gh (Lexus Future Grand Touring Hybrid) concept is expected to serve as a hint towards the styling direction for the next-generation Lexus GS. The automaker also pointed out the fact that the front grille of the concept "hints at the new face of Lexus vehicles".

As with the LF-Gh, a production version of the Scion Concept is likely to depend on the customer response.
