Schwarzenegger Takes a Walk at Geneva Motor Show

In the past, Arnold Schwarzenegger was a  devoted fan of GM's Hummers but now it seems the California Governor is interested in other vehicles as well.

As a matter of fact, he wants to keep the pace with the new models that have appeared on the market, without ignoring older models which could catch his interest. Therefore, Schwarzenegger thought of making an unannounced visit at Geneva Motor Show, on Wednesday, to discover the new and classic vehicles exhibited during the show, the Detroit News found out. The actor was in Europe for the technology trade fair in Hanover, Germany, where he spoke about the importance of investment in environmental technology.

In his tour, the actor was accompanied by German executives such as Volkswagen's development chief who took him to see the new Volkswagen Polo compact. However, it wasn't this car that impressed California Governor, but a Morgan 4/4 from 1939.

"This uses very little gas. Super," he said.

Knowing his passion for Hummers, the actor couldn't ignore the Land Rover and some other sports-utility vehicles.  Schwarzenegger was happy to see that many automakers were promoting greener cars at the show, just as he did in his state.

In addition, he visited Ford's and Audi's sections of the showroom and admired the automakers' new models.

He also looked at a set of old race cars and his only comment was "Look at these cars". In fact,  Arnie was kind of stingy with the comments and refused to answer the reporters' questions.

During his tour,  Schwarzenegger stopped for a snack to chat with Magna Steyr, a contract automaker from his native Austria who was promoting an electric vehicle powered by a Ford Motor Co. battery.
