Schumacher Yet to Recover from Motorcycle Injury

Michael Schumacher is still recovering from the crash he sustained while testing a Superbike machinery at Catragena circuit in February this year. While completing a routine test for a German Superbike team, the 7-time world champion crashed his bike and was later hospitalized with slight injuries.

The German was due to make his debut in German Superbikes this weekend, at Lausitzring. Nevertheless, due to the fact that he is yet unable to ride a bike or even drive a car as a result of the February injuries, Schumacher called it off, as reported by German news agency DPA.

“At the moment I can just about manage to ride a bicycle. When I have to move my neck quickly I am restricted. Maybe it is at my age that things heal more slowly now,” argued Schumacher ahead of this weekend's season opener.

He also admitted riding at Cartagena was probably not the smartest thing to do, especially since that was one of his first outings in Superbikes. The Spanish track is considered to be very demanding and not very suited to close-to-the-limit riding.

“Cartagena was an example of driving too close to the limit on the wrong kind of track,” admitted the 40-year old.

While not able to compete at professional level in car or motorcycle racing, Schumacher did drive the 430 Scuderia as part of Ferrari's celebration of their new portal. He drove several cars throughout the Maranello circuit, giving the Ferrari.com virtual users advices on the best ways of coming out of the various corners and on picking the most efficient racing lines.
