Schumacher Will Come to Valencia as Badoer Supporter

Michael Schumacher announced his presence in the Formula One paddock at Valencia for the upcoming European Grand Prix. The German will come to Spain to support Ferrari's new race driver Luca Badoer for his own return to F1 racing. The 38-year old driver hasn't driven an F1 challenger in a race since the 1999 Japanese Grand Prix.

Currently the driver with the most Formula One starts and not a single point scored (56), Badoer will drive the Ferrari F60 alongside Finnish champion Kimi Raikkonen. Knowing how important this will be for Badoer, who has spent the last decade outside professional racing, Schumacher will try to boost his confidence ahead of the European GP.

Michael is (coming to Valencia) to support the team and Luca,” announced Schumacher's spokeswoman Sabine Kehm for Germany's Bild-Zeitung newspaper.

Badoer has accompanied Schumacher at his 2-day karting test at Lonato circuit, which practically led to the 40-year old German canceling his Formula One return. The very night before Schu announced his decision, the German called Luca to wish him well and assure him that he'll be at Valencia, helping him with the helpful advices.

Last night he called me a couple of minutes after Stefano Domenicali had told me the news and I know that he'll always be ready to give me some advice and he will shout for me,” had revealed Badoer last week.

Knowing him and the team, I think that he is the right choice, the best choice Ferrari could make. It’s true that he hasn’t raced for a while, but a driver never looses his competitive spirit. I wish him well for this difficult task,” was Schumacher's own response, when asked to share his opinion on Badoer.
