Schumacher to Earn 3.2M Euros Per Race

Michael Schumacher might have come to the rescue of his former team Ferrari, but the German will surely not do it for nothing. According to a report from Spanish newspaper Diario AS, it seems the 7-time world champion will earn as much as 3.2 million euros per every race competed for the remainder of the 2009 season.

The news was not confirmed by none of the Ferrari representatives but, if so, that means the German ace will earn more than one million euros per day during the upcoming European Grand Prix. And, if Felipe Massa will not return to the Ferrari cockpit in due time, the situation will perpetuate until the end of the season.

The former Ferrarian has just confirmed he will undergo an extensive fitness programme in order to become physically fit for F1 racing in three weeks time.

However, in order to make it to the Valencia grid, the German driver will have to apply for a FIA super license. His former super license expired at the end of 2006, when he first announced his retirement from the sport.

“Under normal circumstances Michael Schumacher should get a super license,” a FIA spokeswoman told the German news agency SID.

A driver will only obtain a FIA super license if he has raced in at least 15 grands prix in the last 3 years. Schu will easily fall under that category, as he did a full season with the Scuderia when finishing runner-up in 2006.
