Schumacher Sick of F1 Simulator Work

A few weeks back, Mercedes GP's team boss Ross Brawn argued that the absence of a top simulator had hampered Michael Schumacher's efforts to make a successful comeback into F1. However, according to Dutch website f1today.nl, quoting a source very close to the 7-time world champion, that is definitely not the case.

And that's because the 42-year old German hates spending time in an F1 simulator. Apparently, ever since his motorcycle fall in 2009, which ruined his planned F1 return with Ferrari, Schumacher has been experiencing motion sickness.

According to the aforementioned source, that is apparently the reason why his preparations for the 2010 campaign with Mercedes GP did not go very well. And since the German's form is always linked to his teammate Nico Rosberg's, here's another info that could explain the latter's clear advantage over the former throughout 2010: Nico apparently loves working in the F1 simulator.

Nico spends a lot of time in the simulator preparing the car for the Grand Prix weekends,” said the same source, while also revealing that “Michael begins with a basic setting,” before each GP weekend. As compared to Schu, Rosberg prepares his car based on the lap times he does on Friday morning, during FP1.

This is one of quite a few very good reasons why Schumacher was sometimes at a disadvantage to Rosberg,” continued the source.

Either simulator work does it for Schumacher or not, Mercedes GP are sure planning to update their technology in that sense, as Brawn announced a new high-end simulator is already in the works at Brackley. However, it won't become fully functional until 2012.
