Schumacher Reveals Regret Over F1 Quit

Michael Schumacher revealed that his neck problem is slowly healing and hinted that he may return to Formula One racing after all. Following the immense frenzy that surrounded his potential return to the series earlier this year, the Ferrari-an also admitted having chosen to withdraw from the sport three years ago.

From now to the end of the year, my neck injury will be healed to the point where I could drive again,” revealed Schu for Der Spiegel magazine on Monday.

The 40-year old German was very close to making the F1 grid this year – and did some intense testing prior to his projected return – only to announce that a pain in his neck will make it impossible for him to jump into an F1 machinery. While many have questioned Schu's true reasons why he chose not to take a risk, the German seems to have remained committed to one day return to the sport.

Consequently, he wouldn't rule out a comeback, as revealed to the aforementioned publication this week.

I still slightly regret having retired three years ago but there's no reason whatsoever for me to definitively announce that I will not come back. The life I lead makes me happy but who knows that will happen a few months or a year down the line?” added Schu.

In the meantime, Schumacher's long time manager Willi Weber seems to have revealed to the reporters from German tabloid Bild that his client is considering coming back to motorcycle racing – the very thing that got him the neck injury in the first place – in the near future.
