Schumacher Refuses to Answer to Briatore's Jibe

Michael Schumacher was not at all bothered by Flavio Briatore's comments in recent days. The former Renault boss did not have a too optimistic opinion about the 41-year old's return to Formula One, saying that it could turn out to be a total failure.

If Schumacher is not competitive, it will be a disaster. It's not his 41 years, but the three years he was away from formula one. And you don't race faster if you color your hair,” said Briatore, according to Rai Radio 1.

Additionally, the 59-year old Italian blamed Schumacher for his decision to leave Ferrari after a massive 14-year period of time in which he was the very idol of all the tifosi, for a place at Ferrari's biggest rivals Mercedes.

Schumacher wanted to return with Ferrari but did not have the chance. It then came to this inelegant betrayal. He is like any other: he talks, but when it comes to actions it is according to his personal interest,” added Briatore.

Schumacher, on the other hand, elegantly defended himself against these accusations, insisting that Briatore's comments will not cause any disagreements between him and his former Benetton manager. Additionally, the German driver agreed that “we all make mistakes,” referring to Briatore's involvement in the crash-gate.

If he learns from it, I would have no problem if he came back. Flavio is simply an unique personality. (...) I personally have no problems at all with Flavio. I know him very well, I know his strengths and his weaknesses,” added the 41-year old racer.
