Schumacher Excited About First Night Race in Singapore

After sitting 3 years on the sidelines and watching Formula One on TV or from within the paddock from time to time, Michael Schumacher sure lost a few exciting new things inside the series. And despite winning some 7 world championships and breaking all the records he could, he never got to race under artificial light.

Now he'll have that chance, as F1 will head to Singapore for the upcoming round of the 2010 season. This will be the second new venue encountered by the German driver at his return to F1 – after Valencia – but also the first time he'll race at night in the series. Needless to say, despite the poor form of his car in 2010, Schu is as excited as ever to start the Singapore GP two weekends from now.

I have always been fond of getting to know new circuits and Singapore will definitely be an exciting adventure. I have three reasons to look forward to the weekend; it is a new circuit for me, it is a city race and it will be my first night race,” said Schumacher in a preview for the Singapore GP.

Driving a new track has never been too complicated for me and I am usually very quick to learn and find the rhythm. As a team, we would like to perform strongly and we will give our maximum to deliver as good a show as possible,” added the German racer.

This is also the track where Nico Rosberg almost scored his first F1 win in career, back in 2008. He then finished the race in 2nd place, but he'll now settle for points instead.

It feels like a proper street circuit, very narrow and enclosed, with a stop-start nature that never gives you the chance to relax. We've had decent results at the last two races so we will be hoping to continue our run of points finishes in Singapore next weekend,” said Rosberg.
