Schumacher Confirms Interest in F1 Return

While the “Fernando Alonso driving for Ferrari in Valencia” story doesn't seem to be based on such a solid ground these days, the discussion to whether Michael Schumacher will accept a potential proposal coming from Ferrari to replace injured Felipe Massa for the remainder of the F1 season or not doesn't seem that hazardous after all.

While Ferrari's team boss Stefano Domenicali refused to rule out such a move on Monday, Schu's very spokeswoman today confirmed the 7-time Formula One champion would indeed consider stepping into the F60 for a few races.

Although insisting that Ferrari have not yet issued any proposals on the matter to her employer, Sabine Kehm also hinted the 40-year old German might not have had his last word in Formula One.

Usually, I would say he's not interested because he's fine with his life and he doesn't miss anything but now the situation is so different - it's very hypothetical - and Michael doesn't want to step into that (discussion),” said Kehm in an interview with the BBC.

The whole thing will be considered by Ferrari. If they approach Michael, then he will consider it. But there is no reason for him to step into their discussion,” added the spokeswomen, while also reminding everyone that Schumacher's physical state is far from perfect following his most recent motorcycle accidents.

Schumacher not once revealed that he is happy with the new regulations for the 2009 F1 season, especially since the FIA allowed slick tires to make their way back into the series. The last time the German actually got into a Ferrari F1 cockpit was during the course of 2008 (April), when testing the behavior of the F2008 model on slick tires.
