Schumacher Celebrates Wedding Anniversary at the Karting Track

Michael Schumacher admitted he is very satisfied with the karting session he conducted at Lonato Circuit earlier this week. With Frank Williams making sure he wouldn't get to see the inside of the Ferrari F60 cockpit until the very first practice session of the European Grand Prix, the 40-year old German was forced to find other ways to prepare himself for his F1 return.

The reason why he chose to include karting in his training programme was because it tested his entire body. As confirmed by Schu the very next day, he was pleased with the test because he realized afterwards that he is physically fit to race. For how many laps, however, we're yet to find out.

We had two very good Karting days in Lonato, Luca (Badoer) and me could well exploit the time. Arms, upper body, shoulders, neck – an excellent practice indeed. I really would like to expressly thank Roberto Robazzi and his Tonykart-Team who, as always, prepare only the best conditions for us,” admitted the 7-time world champion on his personal website.

In addition, what made Schu enjoy the test even more was the presence of his wife Corinna at the Italian circuit. And she wasn't there only for moral support, but also to join her husband on their 14th wedding anniversary. The Ferrari returnee revealed the two have enjoyed a romantic evening afterwards.

What was especially nice for me was that Corinna joined me those (two) days. It was our wedding anniversary yesterday and we celebrated it with a nice dinner in the evening,” added the German driver.

In the end, Schumacher admitted he'll take the next few days to train by himself in the comfort of his own home, in Switzerland.
