Schumacher Admits F1 Return a Possibility

Michael Schumacher continued to tell the media exactly the same words that he kept telling them for weeks now: anything can happen in the near future regarding his potential comeback to the sport of Formula One. However, given the latest rumors about his switch to Mercedes/Silver Arrows team, such an answer could mean so many things to the F1 enthusiasts.

If his staying at Ferrari had remained a fact, his “you never know” answer would have meant very little in terms of 2010 lineups. However, now that he is actually considering leaving the Scuderia after more than a decade in order to join its rivals in the series Mercedes-Benz for a real, palpable racing job, that's a whole other story.

Schumacher spent the last 2 weekends doing karting events – in Las Vegas and at Florianopolis – probably in an effort to get used to driving single-seaters once again. Obviously, the questions about his projected return were the ones to dominate over the course of last weekend, but Schumacher made it very clear that he doesn't spend too much time thinking of that.

However, he did mention nothing has been agreed upon. In addition, he told the reporters that his neck is 100 percent fine and that he'd be ready to drive an F1 car from as early as tomorrow.

Right now I am concentrating only on these kart races,” said Schu. “Who knows? Anything can happen,” added the 40-year old German about his prospects of returning to F1 action.

I don't have any problems with my neck. It's 100 per cent,” concluded Schumacher.

According to a recent statement from Ferrari's spokesman Luca Colajanni, it has not been confirmed that Schumacher actually signed a 3-year extension with the Scuderia earlier this year. If that were to be the case, the German would have no problem joining Silver Arrows by Christmas, as Nico Rosberg's new teammate for the 2010 season.
