UPDATED: SCG 003 Crashes on the Nurburgring at 120 MPH, Driver is Fine

The first time we had eye contact with Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus' SCG 003 racer, it struck us as a rounded Lamborghini Veneno. Even so, the news that one of the two SCG 003s crashed on the Nurburgring made us sad.

Geneva gave us an opportunity to see the SCG 003 Stradale and Competizione in the metal, but it was only after the SCG 003 proved faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder by 15 seconds on the Nurburgring when we knew the carmaker actually means business.

So, after lapping The Ring in just 6 minutes and 42 seconds, the two SCG 003 had a bright future ahead of them. But Nurburgring is known for taking its toll on racecars, and Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus found that out the hard way. Even more frustrating, the crash happened during a practice session before the official start of the Nurburgring 24 Hours race.
Long story short, one of the two SCG 003s hit a barrier while traveling at a speed of 120 mph (193 km/h). American race driver Ken Dobson was behind the wheel, but reports say he was fine after the impact.

The incident occurred at the Kesslechen section of the Green Hell, with changing weather conditions and lack of visibility making in harder for the driver to avoid the impact. However, thanks to the race car's elaborate design, the impact forces were efficiently absorbed, protecting the passenger cell from damage.

Speaking of Nurburgring motorsport crashes, we'll remind that, over than one month ago, a Nissan GT-R Nismo went airborne and landed on a stand filled with spectators, forcing Germany's motorsports governing body to suspend GT3 cars from the Ring, but now the bad has been lifted and a new set of rules has been added.

UPDATE: we've added a video of the crash below and you can clearly see how the weather conditions influenced the severe oversteer accident. Brace yourselves, this is a painful one.
