Say Goodbye to the Oval, Jaguar Wants to Be Trapezoidal!

When Jaguar came out with the F-Type, most wondered why anybody would ever buy the old XK modes. The F is more elegant, more modern both inside and out and has the heritage to equal even the 911. That same roadster also heralds in a new era of Jaguar design, one which will sweep away the past to make room for the future.
If you’ve been a fan of the Jaguar’s signature oval grille, you’ll be sad to know that the XK will be the brand’s last model to have it. It seems that the company is trying to determine the XK’s future and according to design director Ian Callum “a direction change is a valid question.”

Thus, from now on, future Jaguar models will incorporate a trapezoidal-shaped grille that resembles the one found on the F-Type sports car. So, the F-type is intended to represent a new era for the Jaguar brand.

On the other hand, some think that the XK might be relaunched under the form of a bigger and more luxurious GT model and leave room for the F-Type to become the brand’s sporty offering. Either way, according to Callum the XK “will have a different job to do” now that the F-Type is in Jaguar’s lineup.
