Winter is coming. Actually, winter is already here in most parts of the northern hemisphere. But that doesn’t mean we have to spend it indoors. If you’re the kind of human that likes risking his or her toes for that perfect shot from a snowy ridge, put on your reading glasses.
What we see in the cover photo is known as the Norva Moose. And unlike its name would suggest, it’s not really a moose, but rather a 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4. And not just any Sprinter, the extended 2500 cargo van.

Worried that this won’t handle your adventure ideas? Don’t be. A 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine with a 5-speed automatic Tip Shift transmission and on-demand 4WD sounds like enough for your escapades, doesn't it? Well, it all depends on how crazy you are. It won’t get you across the Arctic, but it will be just right to keep you going through a snow-ridden road or handle some light trail work.

But it’s not so much the engine we care about when we look at something like this. The interior spaces and features are what I personally look for. With the Moose, we’re set.

Inside, you should have no doubt about being warm, or cold if that’s your thing. Insulation is covered by four-season stuffings, making it underwearworthy even if you’re stuck in a storm. To keep all that good stuff from coming loose, the team at Norva use paneling made from what they call “European sustainable poplar.” What, North American poplar is no good? Seeing as how Norva is a Canadian company, they’re probably in cahoots with the French.

Speaking of French, I like French fries, so what about food? Chill out, food's coming up with a kitchenette big enough to cook a meal for two. We also find a stainless-steel sink with folding faucet and an induction cooktop. There’s also a 4.7 cubic-foot fridge and freezer for your leftovers.

Once you’ve had your meal, usually most folks take a seat or a nap. If you do so yourself, an insanely modular bedroom is available. There’s five removable aluminum panels that can be moved and rearranged to complete everything from a dining area, sitting or reading corner, and finally the bedding, of which paneling can even be setup bunk bed style.

For bathroom facilities we are given an exterior shower and a removable interior shower in case you and your significant other need to wash at the same time. And if you do happen to eat something a tad off and need to evac, a portable toilet is also available. No need to worry about any actual moose coming at you while you’re popping a squat behind the nearest tree.

Even though the toilet is not connected to the plumbing system or other waterworks, those systems are present on the Moose. A 23.75-gal (90-l) freshwater tank with a 21-gal (80-l) gray water tank, all with winterization by-pass.

One thing is for sure, the electrical works on this puppy are off the chain. Simply put, it’s packed. Two 200Ah lithium batteries are found, two 130W solar panels, a 2000W inverter and charger, and a ton of AC and DC outlets for all our gear.

Now, these are just he bare necessities. On top of it all, there’s a bike mount, ski and board racks, a safe, audio system, and a bunch of other extras that honestly, we wouldn’t have time for in this short a piece of writing. But if you want to find out more, click here, indulge your eyes, and give the team a call. Maybe you’ll have better luck.

We tried calling the Norva team to find out pricing for a piece of mobile art such as this, but we got no answer. We’ll try again tomorrow.
