Sauber Confirms New Management Team for F1 Operations

Although he will not change the team's designation for the 2010 season of Formula One – at least not for now – Peter Sauber announced his new management team for the upcoming campaign. With the BMW people out of the way, the team will have new leaders starting 2010 onwards, most of them being promoted to new roles within the Hinwil organization.

As far as Sauber is concerned, the Swiss businessman will now be president of the board of directors, while also coordinating the action in the garage as team principal. Willy Rampf, the man who took care of all the technical stuff within the BMW Sauber Team, will continue to be responsible for the engineering side of the business, while Jurg Flach will become new director of operations for the Swiss outfit.

Formula 1 is constantly changing. This division of responsibilities not only meets the demands of the sport, but also freshens things up within the company. I will keep myself informed on all important developments, but will leave operational matters to the management in Hinwil,” said Sauber in a statement for the press.

One interesting fact about Sauber F1's new reorganization plan is that the Sauber family will have one more representative inside the management team. We're talking about Peter's son, Alex, who will take care of the marketing and promotion part of his father's business. His CV includes a job with Swiss first division football club Neue Grasshopper Fussball AG under the same position.

Additionally, the team's new managing director will be Monisha Kaltenborn, while Urs Jampen was contacted to return in his position as finance director after one year and a half away from Hinwil. Although the team has already announced its new engine partnership with Ferrari, no former employee of the Italian company has been confirmed in the management team of the new Sauber F1.
