Sarolea, the oldest Belgian motorcycle brand (estd. 1850) is making a bold comeback to two-wheel racing, but it's only the name that's old: they're going electric, and are up to Isle of Man TT Zero and the FIM eRoadRacing series.
The new 2014 Sarolea SP7 is built almost entirely from carbon fiber, with a monotube frame and acarbon swingarm, with special lightweight alloys used in critical areas, and weighs 200 kg (441.5 lbs).
Good for 250 km/h (155.4 mph), the new Sarolea is powered by a 400 Nm (294.8 lb-ft), 180 hp motor, with direct chain drive, no clutch and a single speed. It can do 0 - 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2,8 sec.
Vice World Champion Thijs De Ridder helped developing the power train and he will also be riding the Sarolea in the eRoadRacing series. No word on who will be riding the machine for the IOM TT Zero, but we're all eyes on such a historic comeback.
