The North American division of German manufacturer Volkswagen announced recently it will invest in the construction of a 35,000 square-foot facility in the San Francisco area. The new dealership, at Dirito Brothers in Walnut Creek, is part of the company’s U.S. growth strategy.
“We have proudly served the Bay Area for more than 50 years. Thanks to the support of Volkswagen, our new dealership will allow us to continue our growth and make Volkswagen the vehicle of choice in the Bay Area,” Don Dirito, co-owner of Dirito Brothers Dealership said in a release.
The new dealership will feature Volkswagen’s new “white frame” design and is expected to bring a significant boost to the local economy.
“As we continue to increase sales and grow our U.S. business, we are proud to invest in one of our most loyal and successful dealerships and in the San Francisco area economy,” Stefan Jacoby, president and CEO, Volkswagen of America said.
“The Bay Area is a critical part of our long-term growth strategy in the U.S., and we look forward showcasing our expansive model range to customers in the exciting new “white frame” dealership,” added Jacoby. “Through investments and activities such as these, Volkswagen is demonstrating our commitment to the U.S., and reinforcing that we are right at home in America.”
The carmaker also announced its plans of applying for the Leadership in Environmental Design and Energy (LEED) Certification for the establishment, for implementing green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
