Samsung Might Have Silently Fixed a Critical Android Auto Bug

South Korean phone manufacturer Samsung might have finally fixed an issue hitting Android Auto users and causing an Internet connection error when connecting phones to their cars.

Users started encountering an error message indicating that “this Internet connection isn’t strong enough at the moment” in early 2020, and according to various reports, the whole thing was limited just to Samsung smartphones.

While it wasn’t exactly clear what was causing the problem, Google itself acknowledged it, promising a fix in a Google app update.

But more recently, Samsung phone owners revealed that the error message is gone not after installing a Google app update, but after deploying a software update released by the South Korean phone maker for its devices. The issue is no longer occurring on the Galaxy S10 and Note 9, users say, and there’s a chance everything is back to normal on other models as well.

For the time being, we’re still waiting for a confirmation that Samsung fixed the bug in the latest update.

But of course, if you own a Samsung phone and you previously encountered this error in your car with Android Auto, installing the latest updates is obviously recommended.

Google rolled out updates for the Google app earlier this week, but without official changelogs, it’s pretty much impossible to tell if the company included any fixes aimed at Android Auto users. Again, you should also install these latest updates and then run Android Auto again to see if the issue is still happening.

A new Android Auto update is also expected later this month, most likely with more fixes, but discovering what’s inside is something that comes down to users themselves, as Google no longer offers any release notes for these minor updates.

We’ve reached out to both Samsung and Google to ask for more information about their latest updates and will circle back when and if we get some answers.
