Samsung Launches Galaxy J3 Smartphone with S Bike Special Mode

Samsung's recent J3 smartphone was launched in India with an S Bike mode, a feature designed to help riders focus more on operating the bike and being alert in traffic. Apparently, texting and using the cell phone without dedicated handsfree gadgets is a problem that extends outside the car segment, and Samsung decided to do something about it.

The S Bike mode is a special operating mode riders can activate manually on their phones or using the handheld's NFC capabilities and the special NFC tag supplied.

The fun thing is that this NFC tag is self-adhesive and can be effortlessly installed on the bike or even on the helmet. After it is stuck to a surface, the only thing the rider must do is touch the Galaxy J3 gently to it and the phone enters the S Bike mode.

Once in S Bike mode, the smartphone will still be connected to the cell network, but it will act as your personal secretary you instructed to fend off those who would disturb you.

The S Bike mode tells callers that you're on the motorcycle

Basically, when someone calls your number, you will not see the incoming call. However, the Galaxy J3 will not reject the call, but will block it and play a predefined audio sequence telling the caller that you can't answer the phone because you're riding your motorcycle.

Also, the phone will tell the callers that, if the call is an urgent one, they can press 1 and the call will go through. Still, even after "Incoming Urgent Call" appears on the display, you can't answer the phone because the Motion Lock feature detects that you're still moving.

To answer, you will have to stop the bike completely and only then will it allow you to take the call. Samsung says that riders using the S Bike mode appropriately are also in for rewards from the Korean manufacturer.

So far, the S Bike mode is only available in India with the Galaxy J3, but something tells us this will also become available on other phones and all over the world.
