Sam Garret Classic Car Collection Goes Under the Hammer

Renown auction house Bonhams announced that it has prepared Sam Garrett’ collection of classic cars for their upcoming sale at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on November 14.

Garrett is known for having invented the mascara brush for women by taking a brush used in the maintenance of camera equipment and, together with Max Factor, applying the concept to make-up, and has a reputation of having an unique and varied taste in cars.

The collection of 28 cars is to be offered without reserve and comprises such a diverse range of automobiles from Europe and the United States, including:

• 1927 BNC type 110 Roadster
• 1935 Brewster Town Car
• 1937 Rolls-Royce 25/30 Limousine
• 1948 Packard Custom 8 Wagon
• 1950 Morgan SS
• 1967 Mercedes-Benz 600 SWB

Alongside the aforementioned lots, also part of Garrett’s collection, there will also be a the Chevy pick-up truck and Indian motorcycle once belonging to Steve McQueen. Moreover, the auction will also feature a special edition Mustang owned by son Chad McQueen.

The 1949 Chevrolet 3100 is presented by McQueen's widow, Barbara Minty McQueen, was never before offered for sale and it is said to be in the same state as when last driven by Steve in 1980. The iconic 1940 Indian Chief motorcycle was used by McQueen as his personal "Hollywood bike" and was originally sold as part of the McQueen estate in Las Vegas in 1984.

Number 1 in the series and dubbed "McQueen 1", the special edition 2001 Mustang, built in commemoration of the world's greatest chase movie, Bullitt, is in factory original and unmodified condition and has covered only 2012 miles since new.
