In case you thought designers are breaking boundaries only in the auto industry then you might want to reconsider. You see, there is another huge transportation industry that not only constantly innovates, but also involves a crazy load of money that is being spent. Yes, we mean the world of yachts.
OK, these rich people wearing white T-shirts, drinking whiskey and cruising the seas just to close million-dollars business deals on their satellite-smartphones are not really using their huge yachts to literally transport themselves form one point to the other. It’s rather something connected to lifestyle, to the few that own the plenty.

Maybe the yachts we've been writing of are rather something of the absolute abundance than of regular transportation, but you get the point.

The peculiar yacht concept in question might seem a bit too courageous, an endeavor too bold to actually ever see the ocean. Yet, its creator, freelance architect and yacht designer Lujac Desautel, is quite appreciated in the business. He was nominated for the 2014 young designer of the year award by the boat international media with his GLASS concept, the 5,600 square foot mega yacht inspired by skyscrapers and Lego.

The designer has now come with a new concept, another masterpiece we hope one day will reach production. Dubbed the SALT, the 180-feet yacht carries a very interesting design that features large steps which cascade down to the water, a glass superstructure that serves as structural element. Its rear is envisioned as a beach club, which puts passengers at water-level.

Accommodating three dining rooms, five cabins and multiple crew sleeping areas, the SALT is designed as a vessel that gets passengers closer to the sea, connecting them in a different way to how the classic models do. The hull is cut out to create an unobstructed view of the surrounding ocean, the deck becomes multi-level offshore plateaus. Meanwhile glass facades slide open, transforming the deck house into a beachside cabana.
