Salon Prive to Feature Supercar Furniture

The UK’s 2010 Salon Prive will make one step further to the “adoption” of supercars, as the show will not only host ultra-fast vehicles, but will also feature supercar furniture. The show, which will take place between July 21 and 23, will see young designer Lionel Virdee exhibit his Custom Designz collection of automotive furniture, that features components from some of the top supercars on the planet.

Young designer, Lionel Virdee, will be showing his unique take on some of the world’s most luxurious cars, which transforms iconic alloy wheels into exquisite, hand-made coffee tables and side tables.  The Custom Designz collection also includes an office chair with a difference, made from an original McLaren Mercedes SLR driver’s seat, and a mantle clock set in a genuine Ferrari 430 Scuderia carbon ceramic brake disc and calliper,” stated the press release.

Lionel starts with used high-spec automotive components, refurbishes them and then incorporates them into furniture items, so each creation is both an exclusive and a recycled product.

My equal passion for motor racing, cars and design has inspired me to create unique and irresistible handcrafted pieces for the guys who have everything.  It all started when I was re-decorating and wanted something completely unique, so I created a table from a GT3 alloy wheel I had in the garage,” Lionel said.

Lionel’s creations will fit perfectly into the exclusive Salon Prive environment - each piece exudes glamour, style and innovation,” explained Salon Prive co-founder, David Bagley.
