Saleen Mustang Prototype Spied in Parking Garage

As any muscle car enthusiast will tell you, Saleen is on the brink of filing for bankruptcy according to the notorious US SEC Form 10-Q filing from November, 2014. Still, there is still some hope left for the iconic Mustang tuner, though Saleen and their auditors said they might go bankrupt and published it in their SEC filings. (H/T to FRED)

Glance at the photo gallery below. The red Model S is the all-new Saleen GTX. Previously dubbed Four-Sixteen, the moniker was changed to ST, then GTX after Elon Musk presented the world with the 691 horsepower Tesla Model S P85D and Saleen found out ST is a Ford thing. Everything looks normal here, including the Cali plates, but the $132,000 electric sedan isn’t the main subject of this particular story.

What grabbed our attention by the scruff of the neck is the white Saleen Mustang accompanying the GTX/ST/Four-Sixteen/whatever. Mustang6G forum member GetYourWheels snapped these photos and the man stated: “one of the guys in my building seems to work for Saleen or Roush. He ALWAYS has the newest Mustangs/Camaros/Challengers with the full Roush and Saleen performance packages. This past weekend I noticed he’s been enjoying the S550, upon closer inspection it looks to have some prototype Saleen parts.”

Mind you, the 2015 Saleen S302 Mustang in Black Label is slated to arrive in Los Angeles on February 20th, a detail that begs the question “2015 Saleen S550 Mustang what now?” Apparently, an almost bankrupt Saleen is working on an ever wilder tune for the 5.0 Coyote V8-powered S550 generation Mustang or just tinkering with all-new aftermarket aesthetic bits and bobs.

Other than the impressive front fascia nip & tuck job, the lettering on the windshield and tasty-looking rear deck lid, it’s anybody’s guess what the American tuner has been up to with this prototype pony.
