When you hear someone talk about Saleen it's hard not to automatically correlate that name with those heavily customized pony cars that were once bearing the Blue Oval's Mustang badge up front. But more recently, Saleen ventured into tuning performance EVs such as the Tesla Model S luxury sedan.
Steve Saleen dropped the bomb this April, telling that "the Company is prepared to show its vision for a Saleen version of the acclaimed Tesla.” The specialty manufacturer has also imagined in sketches how the future tune job would look like. A prototype was also spied by the carparazzi laying rubber on a track, so we bet there's a little bit of go-faster paraphernalia on the menu besides the visual makeover and the mandatory Alcantara & co. cabin detailing.

A bone stock Tesla Model S P85, like the one we reviewed, boasts with a hefty 416 horsepower and a pretty quick 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) run, so things are definitely going to get better with the Saleen-tuned P85. However, no official info is available on that at the present moment, but the mystery veil will be lifted this Sunday at Pebble Beach. The exquisite Concours d'Elegance is the place where the so-called Saleen Foursixteen will make its pomp and circumstance debut.

"We are eager to showcase the results of the tremendous effort of my team at Saleen Automotive, culminating in what I believe is a truly exceptional all-electric vehicle that stands on the shoulders of the Tesla's innate excellence yet displays the Saleen heritage for which we are known," has declared the CEO of Saleen Automotive. The first electric vehicle tuned by the specialty manufacturer is described by Saleen as an "artfully and technologically crafted" masterpiece, a "remarkable example of an electric drive supercar sedan."

Last but not least, the detail that really got our attention is the statement according to which the tuned Model S draws "on the same American exotic heritage that inspired the Saleen S7 supercar; the Saleen Foursixteen Model S details a comprehensive list of aerodynamic, performance and technological upgrades."
