Saab Product Plans Through 2017 Revealed

It's kinda funny to talk about 2017 product plans since some of the companies are still fighting for survival and don't have the tiniest idea how much they will remain in business. But Saab, which is now working under Koenigsegg's protection, has already established detailed product plans until 2017, with new car launches and revised models to arrive in the next years.

First of all, Saab will launch the new sedan 9-5 in 2010, the same model that will be presented at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show later this year in September. The new 9-4 compact SUV will be launched in 2010 as well and will compete with Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and BMW X3. Shortly after that, a facelift for the 9-3 model is also expected.

2011 will witness a single model debut, namely the 9-5 Sportcombi. However a major release will be actually represented by the start/stop technology which will join the Saab product range the same year.

One year later, the Swedish manufacturer will debut the new generation 9-3 as well as the 9-1, a model especially aimed at the mini premium sector and developed in collaboration with BMW. Still, only little is known at this time so more details are expected to surface in the next months.

A crossover model will most likely arrive in 2013 and will be based on the 9-5 Sportcombi scheduled for debut in 2011. The 9-3 range will benefit from a new convertible version the same year, according to the papers revealed by automotorsport.se.

2017 will mark the introduction of the new generation 9-5 but obviously, details are inexistent for the time being.
