Saab May Be Bought by Swedish Electric Car Firm

The Saab story has definitely saddened the automotive world, but it’s not finished yet, and from the looks of it, it’s going to be more of an on-going thing, until everything is sorted out and production is resumed (hopefully).

After Youngman Motors of China pulled out of the negotiations to take over the Swedish brand, all Saab fans lost hope again. However, an electric car group which is led by ex-Volvo Trucks CEO Karl-Erling Trogen is now the leading bidder for the takeover of what's left of the brand.

The company is called National Electric Vehicle Sweden, an enterprise only recently created, having been registered only this Monday. Apparently, the newly-created company has Japanese-Chinese backing, with its shares divided up amongst a company called Sun Investment and Mikael Kubu, President of Ac-Gruppen, a law firm based in the Swedish town of Gothenburg.

Also, GM don’t seem to bee particularly willing to let Saab go under new ownership, in fear that ‘key technology’, as they call it, may end up in ‘the wrong hands’.
