Saab Arctic Performance Video

A good way not to show signs of weakness in the face of your own government's stubbornness to lend a helping hand is to keep walking, as the famous saying goes. Saab, still facing an uncertain future, puts all its hopes into the future 9-3X model. The car may very well be Saab last stand in the automotive industry, the "make it or brake it" time.

If it is to save the entire company, the 9-3X should really be a breakthrough in four wheel motoring. We already detailed the car and we have seen that it is not. Even with years of aeronautical engineering experience behind it, the 9-3X is JUST A CAR. Details and photos of the model released prior to the 2009 Geneva Auto Show are not enough to make the 9-3X model desirable. And Saab knows it.

Of course, the company has something other builders do not have. And that is a performance drive team. We are sure you've all seen by now what the drivers that make up the team can do, but in the 9-3X's case, the company needed something more.

So they decided to put the Saab Performance Drive Team behind the wheel of the new 9-3X and send them on their way in northern Sweden to do what they do best: synchronous driving, two wheel driving, drifting, full speed 180 degrees turns and so on.

What came out of it you can see below. We must admit, we liked the performance. What we didn't get was the reindeer guy in the video...You'll see what we mean.

We enjoyed Saab's presentation and it seems the company is on the right track. We even dare say we will be the first to help out the company and buy one or two of its drivers...
