Earlier today, we offered you a look at Volvo’s future plans under the new Geely management. Now, it is time to talk about’s Saab’s dance with Spyker.

The new Saab 9-5 is already on the market and the next step is the introduction of the 9-4X crossover at the L.A. Auto Show in November.

However, we don’t have to wait until the L.A. event to see what Saab has prepared for us, as the first images of a pre-production 9-4X have leaked on the Internet.

The pictures, which have been published by Saabs United, reveal both the vehicle’s front and rear ends, allowing us to take a good look at the car.

As for the tech facts, the 9-4X is a vehicle that was developed while Saab was still under GM ownership. This means that the car shares its platform with the Cadillac SRX. The two cars will also be produced at the same plant (they will come to the world via Mexico). However, they will be completely different to drive.

One of the consequences of the bond is the fact that one of the engines expected to make it under the hood of the 9-4X is the 2.8 liter turbocharged V6, which should be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Saab will almost certainly offer a wider range of powerplants for the vehicle. Another engine that might be included in the range is the four-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged unit that can be found on the new 9-5 model, which should use the same automatic gearbox.
