Saab 9-3 Independence Edition First Images

There are only a few days left before the 2011 Geneva Auto Show opens its doors to a wonderful world of new vehicles and concepts. For some auto makers,  this will be the place where their reinvention will begin. As Swedish manufacturer Saab said repeatedly in the past, Geneva will mark its entrance in what will be perhaps the busiest year in its history. For Saab, 2011 will be a make it or break it year, one filled with the biggest number of new car launches ever. As we already told you a week ago, Saab will be bringing to Geneva four new vehicles, including the 9-5 SportCombi, a concept hatch and two special editions of the 9-3: Griffin and Independence. And now, the first photos showing the Independence have been released by Saab United. According to the source, the Independence will be based on the Aero Convertible and will use a 2.0T Biopower engine which will develop 220 horsepower. And, as with any special edition, the Independence will be packed with several unique features, like Sunset Red color on the body and new 18 inch wheels on the outside. At the interior, future owners of the special edition (at most 366, the maximum number of Independence edition units Saab plans to build) will feel unique because of the Orange turbo instrument needle, Hirsch leather instrument panel and Super Sport steering wheel. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
