There are quite a lot of new features on the recently-launched Mercedes-Benz S 600 V222, but among the most impressive for its passengers is its new optional panoramic roof, made from two pieces, which benefits from electronic tinting at the push of a button.
Called Magic Sky Control in Mercedes-speak, the technology makes the glass roof instantly change its tint at the push of a button, with the interior being either drenched in sunlight like in a convertible or having an over 99 percent shade.

If some of you remember from the summer of 2013, we were first reporting about the arrival of the world's largest panoramic roof with electronic tinting function on the new S-Class this year, and the Germans have kept their word.

First appearing as a novelty gimmick on the Mercedes-Benz Maybach Concept from 1997, the technology first entered production in 2011, on the SLK Roadster R172, which was followed shortly by the SL Roadster R231.

The version used by the S-Class and the upcoming S-Class Coupe will be about three-times as large as the panoramic roofs from the roadsters, making for the largest series production version of the application.
