Ryan Tuerck may have kept things sideways all year in Formula Drift, but there's always been something special about seeing racecars performing outside their usual playground, so we now want to focus on the drifter's Scion FR-S.
The footage below sees the 2JZ-hearted FR-S being strapped to a dyno during a test for the cooling system. While the results of the work aren't shown in the clip, you should know peak power sat at 850 hp, while the Toyota managed to deliver "a consistent 800 hp while being extremely hot."
Responsible for all the power, and a few flaming moments, is a heavily tuned 2JZ, whose custom adventure starts with a 3.4-liter Brian Crower stroker kit. A Garrett GTX turbocharger delivers 30 psi of boost, while the compression ratio has been brought to 11.7/1. The cams are custom, and the valvetrain comes from Supertech.
A ported head joins the Brian Crower head gasket, while the DV2 injectors come from Deatsch Werks. ARP has supplied the main and head studs, while the exhaust, which includes the anti-lag system responsible of the riot in the clip below, comes from Nameless Performance.
Everything is kept in check by a Motec engine management system, while the in-line six runs on VP Racing C85 race gas.
Now that the year is coming to an end, it's time to look back at the slip angle activities
In terms of Formula Drift alone, the drifter, who has been racing with Nameless Performance, finished fourth this year, behind Fredric Aasbo, Kenshiro Gushi and Chris Forsberg. However, 2015 has also seen Ryan pulling some memorable drifting stunts for promotional purposes, and we have to admit his clips have kept us in front of our screens. Here are two examples for those of you who haven't been following the sideways scene all that closely.
