RWD, Supercharged Jeep Grand Cherokee Humiliates Twin-Turbo Camaro in Detroit Street Racing

Detroit builds cars, shows America the most important new models at the beginning of the year, but you know what else happens in Motor City? Street racing.

Yes, the city's financial situation might be troubled, but this doesn't mean people will refrain from having illegal motorized fun at night. The latest example of this comes from the video below, which shows us a race that took place earlier this week.

At first, it might seem like we are dealing with more or less regular cars here, namely a Camaro and a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.Regardless of the illegal nature of their use, these two V8 slabs of America are special
However, since Detroit knows its cars, the vehicles featured in the race were anything but your average bolt-on machines. We'll start with the Camaro, which features a twin-turbo setup for an explosion of muscle.

As for the Grand Cherokee, this has received a supercharged and has been converted to rear-wheel-drive, with plenty of work going into the contents of the engine compartment.

The burnout performed by the Jeep in order to bring the tires to the correct temperature lets everybody around know they are not dealing with the usual supercharged Grand Cherokee, if we can call the SRT that.

Since the video reached Youtube, we expect the racers to have completed their runs without being caught by the police.

The usual car v.s. SUV weight difference isn't that important here, since the Camaro isn't exactly a good friend of the scale. And with both vehicles turning to extreme forced induction measures, this race is the kind that keeps its audience on their toes. Yes, the SUV does take the cake, but the battle remains close.

As expected with such machines, their combined soundtrack delivers a memorable aural treat, which manages to reach us despite the average quality of the video.
