Russian Tuning Delivers Cheap Alternative to Range Rover Evoque Convertible

Many aficionados like to point their fingers at the Range Rover Evoque Convertible, dismissing its oddball aura, but people tend to forget the auto industry has supplied strange high ground clearance machines in the past.
We only need to go back to the colorful 90s to notice the strange Suzuki X-90. If you think the ragtop Evoque is unpractical, how about the Japanese two-seater crossover with a manually removable targa top?

We should've known it wouldn't take long until some enthusiast constrained by their budget decided to mix the two. And here we are, talking about the result.

The result of the odd-meets-odd melange comes in the image above, being delivered from Russia with offroading love. The image, which came to our attention thanks to comrade Boosted Boris, shows an X-90 that had received a number of custom bits and pieces designed to make it look contemporary.

Interestingly, those custom touches include the usual treatment, with pieces such as the wheels, but also see the Suzuki being fitted with Evoque, or maybe Evoque-like, front and rear light clusters.

As strange as it is, the X-90 has aged well and we have to admit the changes seen here could make it pass as a car built a few years ago. And while its interior undoubtedly gives away its age (90s Japanese car interiors weren't exactly top-class), the photo allows us to get a peek at the cabin and we feel there are plenty of other mods in there.

While it might sound odd, we'll label this contraption under "not that bad." As long as this isn't one of those clones trying its best to pass for something it's not, we'll keep an open mind here.

Who knows? Maybe somebody will try to sell this one as an offroading Miata some day. Well, that would be a problem...
