Not quite as impressive as Roman Abramovich’s private yacht, but the Sirius is not bad, either. Especially if you’re a sucker for whirlpool baths, an artificial waterfall and a cinema, all in one place. The watercraft in question is now the property of non other than Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who has spent no less than $42 million on it, as the London Telegraph reports via Luxist.

The superyacht, in fact, is currently named Leo Fun, but is to be renamed as Sirius by its new owner.

The Sirius was built in 2009 and it has now been bought by Medvedev from Turkey's Proteksan-Turquoise shipyard as a replacement for the current presidential yacht, which is due to be decommissioned.

The 177 foot-long explorer-style luxury yacht has quarters for 12 crew and a range of 5,000 miles at a cruising speed of 15 knots. It can reach a maximum speed of 18 knots, powered by twin Caterpillar 3512B diesel engines, each rated for 1,911 horsepower.

Among the luxury features that Medvedev will be able to enjoy on the Sirius, there is a deck Jacuzzi for 6, spacious sunbathing areas, a gym, a sheltered lounge area and an alfresco dining area for 14 with barbecue and bar.

Kremlin spokesman Viktor Khrenikov was quoted in the Russian press to the effect that the yacht will be given a presidential upgrade at an unspecified cost. "Everything necessary for a president for work and relaxation has been thought of. The president could use her during the 2014 Olympics [in the Black Sea port of Sochi," he said.
