We are, once again, back on the Russian drag racing topic and this time it’s thanks to an R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R that has mind-blowing quarter mile abilities.
We are talking about an R32 that recently managed to play the 1/4 mile game in a staggering 7.99s at 170 mph (274 km/h).

The car is run by Dmitry Kapustin of SMP Racing. The team, called Russian Bears, is comprised of around 40 drivers who activate in a wide variety of championships, from local racing such as the Russian Drag Racing Championship seen here to the WTCC or FIA WEC (obviously also including Le Mans).

Let’s put things into perspective with an R35 comparison

Sure, getting an R32 into the 7s range is impressive enough on its own, but there’s more to the run than that. For one thing, the world’s fastest R35 GT-R, which comes from the US, also plays in the 7s range. We are talking about AMS Performance’s Alpha Omega GT-R. This is a 2,000+ HP monster that recently reclaimed its R35 1/4-mile world record with the help of a 7.485s pass.

And while we’re at it, we want to remind you what happens when one of these 2,000 HP Godzillas gets out of control. A recent customer car crash has taught us about the consequences of such an unfortunate event. In fact, we are talking about the fastest customer R35 in the world. The racecar is now totalled, but the tech bits that have remained untouched by the crash will find their way into another GT-R.

Now back to the R32 world

While we have no precise data for this Russian Skyline GT-R, the specs of the racecar that holds the R32 quarter mile world record (a 7.41s pass) can help with approximating the numbers. We are talking about the Australian-tuned Heat Treatments R32, which delivers 1,668 hp.
