Russian Blonde Tests New Renault Sandero

We've looked at the Dacia Sandero hatchback from just about every angle possible since it was launched in 2012 at the Paris Motor Show. It's a great volume car from the Romanian budget brand and since the beginning of this year, it's been making cameo appearances as a Renault model in different markets.

At the end of August, the Sandero and Sandero Stepway made their Russian debut at the Moscow Motor Show. Local factories have begun churning them out and it seems one has fallen into the hands of Anastasia Tregubova, a sexy Russian blonde with an affinity for automobiles.

In her review, Anastasia notes that the Renault Sandero has a different front bumper to Dacia models and that it received a heated windshield to deal with the Russian weather. The indicators have been moved from the front bumper to the windshield, but some of the flaws of the Romanian model have been kept. For example, the gas tank opens with the same ignition key you use start the car or lock it, so you can't leave the gas station attendant to fill your car while you go pay because you're going to carry the gas cap with you.

Now, the Russian-spec Renault Sandero is a little different to the ones sold in the rest of Europe. It's built at AVTOVAZ’s second plant in Togliatti. The standard Sandero comes with 155 mm (6.1 inches) of ground clearance, while the Stepway boosts that even further to 195 mm (7.7 inches). The two engines available are a 1.2-liter with 75 hp or a 1.6-liter with 102 hp. That's right, you can't have it with one of Renault's 1.5 dCi diesels.

Editor's note: Those boots, those wonderfully sexy platform boots!
