The super sailing yacht is currently under construction at the Nobiskrug shipyard in Germany, but it was recently spotted conducting some tests at sea. According to Super Yacht Times, it’s classed as a sail-assisted motor yacht, although there aren’t many traditional features about it.

Russian billionaire Andrey Igorevich Melnichenko must be quite happy about it considering he is willing to leave his other stunning yacht, the Motor Yacht A. This one was launched in 2008 following a four-year build. And it’s not like this one was a lot worse than the one currently under construction. We’re talking about a rumored cost of $300 million, with a length of 119 meters (390 ft) and displacing almost 6,000 tonnes.

Nevertheless, it appears that there’s always something bigger and more luxurious you can spend your millions on when you’re an oil tycoon like the fellow in question. Dubbed Sailing Yacht A after the owner and his wife’s names, the new contraption will be powered using a custom diesel-electric propulsion system. It utilizes two MTU 3,600 kW diesel engines in tandem with two 4,300 kW electric motors that are linked to a set of adjustable pitch propellers.

According to the source, this masterpiece will be able to have a cruising speed under power of 16 knots with a range of 5,320 nm (6,122 miles) and a top speed of 21 knots (13 mph). Moreover, the ship also features three freestanding carbon fiber masts, that together offer secondary propulsion.

No official unveiling was set, but it’s believed the project will be delivered next year. Until then, however, you may as well take a closer look at the pictures below.
