That cool-looking emerald Insignia Sports Tourer with the new 2.0-liter BiTurbo CDTI engine is the very first car of its kind, its kind being the Insignia Facelift. This revitalized model comes as the German automaker continues to struggle with poor sales in Europe. However, the flagship model has been surprisingly resilient, with around 600,000 units of the Opel flagship being built.
Russelsheim, the spiritual home of the Opel brand, just started production of the Insignia Facelift today, August 22nd. However, order books in Germany are already open, even before this model has a chance to shine at its official motor show debut next month.
To mark the arrival of the Insignia facelift, a small celebration of workers was lead today by their boss Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann (in the middle of the photo) at Russelheim.
“Today Opel has the strongest model portfolio ever, and the Insignia is a very important part of that. High quality-standards, attention to detail, and the power to innovate have resulted in this car," Neumann said.
