The video below shows how a runaway car caught by a security camera in downtown San Rafael, California, almost hits a couple of people walking a dog on the sidewalk.
Despite going in reverse, the black sedan (looks like a Ford Focus) is carrying a lot of speed. It mounts the curb and careens onto the sidewalk. The car was driven by a 93-year-old woman who lost control of her vehicle and could have was headed for two employees and a dog from Guide Dogs for the Blind.
"It was just an unbelievable sight to see something going backwards, barreling down the sidewalk," said Todd Jurek, a training supervisor for Guide Dogs for the Blind. His quick reflexes are what saved the day, as you can see from the video.
Miraculously, nobody was injured in the incident, not even the old woman in the car. However, the car caused a lot of property damage, hitting a city bench, a stop light and breaking a glass window.
