Royalty and Celebrity Owned Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Up for Auction

The forthcoming Rolls-Royce, Bentley Motor Cars & Automobilia sale by Bonhams at Rockingham Castle, Leicestershire on June 18, will feature a 1975 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Long-Wheelbase Limousine that was owned by Princess Margaret and later by American actor Burt Reynolds.

The long-wheelbase Silver Shadow was supplied to the personal order of HRH Princess Margaret in 1975. The vehicle in question incorporates many special features requested by Princess Margaret.

These include leather trimmed door cappings flat side indicators fitted in line with chromed body moldings, Nuella Black hide interior; and Cardinal Red paintwork with contrasting gold coachlines. In addition, it was requested that the seats be 'soft and comfortable', while other features include a flag mast and blue police lamp.

Reynolds bought this car in 1984, keeping it at his ranch in Florida. the Silver Shadow is estimated to fetch £20,000 – 22,000. “This car represents a unique insight into a Rolls-Royce that encapsulated the tastes of both Royalty and Hollywood,” Bonhams says.

Further highlights of the sale include a 1938 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Cabriolet, which is estimated to sell for £160,000 – 180,000. A total of 710 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Cabriolet had been manufactured before WW2 halted production, and only 300 exist worldwide today.

Among the Bentley's offered by Bonhams, a 1996 Bentley Azure Convertible is estimated to sell for £65,000 – 75,000. A 1936 Bentley Sports Saloon is estimated to sell for £45,000 – 55,000 and a 1964 Bentley S3 Saloon £25,000 – 30,000.
