Royal Enfield Motorcycle Carries 54 People

Following the successful attempt of breaking the world record and enter the Guinness Book, with 48 of its members balancing on a single machine, Royal Enfield is again drawing attention upon itself being involved in a similar initiative.

Royal Enfield says the motorcycle used for this attempt did not have modifications in the power unit for this feat, which means your regular bike could also be used in transporting the same amount of people simultaneously.

Specifically, the Army Service Corps (ASC) Tornados Team successfully mounted 54 people on a single Royal Enfield Classic 500 motorcycle on late November.

This record attempt surpasses the earlier attempt of 48 people on a single motorcycle which was also set on the Royal Enfield Classic 500. The company, however, makes no reference to whether this feat will also be acknowledged by the Guinness Book representatives, or it was just an attempt made for fun.

The previous performance took place at the Yelahanka Air Force Station, with the team standing in a pyramid formation and traveling a mandatory distance of 1 kilometer (0.62 miles).

After surpassing the current record the Corps of Military Police (CMP) men now want to raise the bar by attempting the same formation and covering a distance of 1.5 kilometers (0.93 miles).

The Royal Enfield Classic 500 motorcycle is powered by a 499cc developing 27.2 bhp at 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm (30.5 lb.ft.) at 4,000 rpm. The bike weighs in 187 kg (412 pounds) and is capable of reaching a top speed of 130 km/h (81 mph).
