Royal Enfield Himalayan Peg Breaks Off in Official Teaser

The screenshots below clearly show that a piece of metal came off from the Royal Enfield Himalayan featured in one of the recent videos, and it will be interesting to hear what the Indian manufacturer has to say about this.

We recently showed you the latest official pics and videos of the Himalayan, the new Royal Enfield adventure machine whose launch was postponed last autumn. One of the videos, however, contains a part that no manufacturer, no marketer and no filmmaker would want to see: a piece of metal flying off from the bike. And they would definitely not want to leave the footage uncut.

We have all the reasons to believe that piece is made of metal, as it shines in the sunlight and we captured that moment in a screenshot. Even more, it looks like a footpeg, and we can also see that the rider's right foot dangles in the air.

The bike's trajectory is straight, so there would be no need to "feel" the dirt with the boot, as MX riders so often do when turning. Something is amiss, but whatever it is, is doesn't look good for Royal Enfield.

Loose bolts or broken pegs?

If anything, it is hard to tell, at least now, if the footpeg broke off from the bike or it simply fell off because of a loose nut and bolt. We can expect Royal Enfield to come up with an explanation, but things are already iffy.

Even more, if you watch the final landing, the Himalayan is almost hitting the ground with its belly, definitely a big no-no for a bike that claims to be an adventure one. Clearly, stronger suspensions are needed, even though people riding fully-loaded would rarely jump their bikes. Peg action at 1:50, by the way!
