The new Royal Enfield Bullet 500 has been launched today in India, and after spreading across the traditional markets, we might see it cross the seas and reach both Europe and North America.
The new Bullet 500 brings some changes to the otherwise, classic bike, showing a slight progress for the old brand. The new Royal Enfield remains a retro two-wheeler and this will surely delight the fans. With a long history and several machines which will be remembered as milestone pieces of engineering, Royal Enfield are still faithful to the old-school air-cooled half-liter engine.

Bullet 500 weighs in 193 kg (426 lbs) and produces 26.1 HP@ 5100 rpm, with 40.8 Nm (30 lb-ft) of torque @ 3800 rpm, all sent to the rear wheel by means of a 5-speed manual gearbox and chain final drive. The frame is a steel single downtube structure, using the engine as a stressed member and sits on 19” and 18” wheels in the front and rear, respectively.

Gas shocks smooth out the road in the rear, while a 13cm (5.1”) travel telescopic fork takes care of the front end. No word on accessories, and all we can see is a miniature sissybar attached to the one-piece dual seat.

The announced price is Rs 1.53 lakh, which translates in $2,815 or €2,160.
