“This strategic investment in the Better Place project is a demonstration of RACV’s commitment to sustainable transport technologies,” RACV general manager public policy Brian Negus was quoted as saying by GoAuto.
The investment will materialize in Better Place providing its own charge points at RACV properties, while the auto club will provide roadside assistance services for EV owners.
The news of Better Place pushing for a spot in the Australian EV landscape, somewhat surprising because of the lack of
government incentives for future EV owners, is explained by the solutions provider by the need to be ready, just in case.
“We at Better Place are rolling out our infrastructure. It is important to understand that this opportunity will happen faster in Australia than other parts of the world,” Evan Thornley, Better Place CEO told the source.
“Unless someone moves very quickly somewhere else in the world, by the end of 2013, the largest charge network anywhere in the world will be here.”
The company is so determined to become the first to set up its charging infrastructure that it is ready to pay no attention to the number of actual EVs on the road.
