While people turn to Mr Bean for their daily laughs, Rowan Atkinson, the man behind the character, gets his kicks from his car collection. However, despite owning an estimated $114M (GBP71M or EUR83M) worth of exotics and classics, Atkinson was recently spotted behind the wheel of a Skoda Superb.
The actor was seen driving a Superb during a trip to the shops. This may be Skoda’s flagship model, but it still seems like a joke compared to the car we last talked about when mentioning Atkinson, his McLaren F1.
Maybe he just wanted to cool off a bit after playing himself in the movie of the highest repair bill ever registered in the UK - Atkinson crashed his McLaren F1 back in 2011, with the car sliding into a tree on a slippery part of the A605 in Peterborough, UK. The vehicle burst into flames prior to the crash, with the actor breaking a shoulder in the accident.
It took the insurance company eight months to analize the claim, but they finally paid $1.44 million (EUR1.68M or GBP910,000). The supercar, one of the only 64 in the world, went throu a painstakingly complicated repair process at McLaren’s headquarters in Woking, Surrey.
Like we said, aside from this pre-facelift Skoda Rapid and his McLaren F1, Atkinson also owns a few other cars. Examples from his collection include a Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe, a Honda NSX, a Jaguar Mk7, an Aston Martin DB2, a retro Ford Falcon, as well as a 1939 BMW 328.
