Achieving celebrity status mainly for his Blackadder and Mr. Bean sitcom characters, Rowan Atkinson is one of the best known comedians in the last few decades, but there are other passions beside acting that he is also well known for.
His use of physical comedy in a number of high-rated movies has allowed him to gather quite an impressive fortune, which in turn has allowed him to indulge in his other passion – supercar ownership.
As a matter of fact, Atkinson is arguably the most famous McLaren F1 owner on the planet, a car which he managed to crash rather badly not once, but twice, since he first bought it in 1997.
Amid recent marriage troubles, the 59-year old actor also saw the front pages of newspapers last year, when the second crash sustained by his McLaren F1 claimed no less than GBP 910,000 in repair bills from insurance companies – supposedly the highest ever automotive repair bill in Britain.
That serious amount of money is arguably much higher than what this Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG cost him, since the modern Gullwing is much more of a “down to Earth supercar” compared with the McLaren F1.
Even so, the SLS AMG is also a bit of a pain for a man of Atkinson's stature, as the actor's height makes him enter and exit the low-slung Mercedes-Benz with gull wing doors in not the most dignifying manner, as these two images show.
